Preservation Durham
Mission: Protecting Durham’s culturally diverse history, heritage, and historic assets through education, advocacy, and action.
Preservation Durham works to protect Durham’s unique sense of place by sharing our passion and knowledge. We offer education and advocacy to the public, stakeholders and public officials. We encourage everyone to preserve the places they love and show them how. We collaborate to protect Durham for future generations.
The league’s donation will go towards supporting Preservation Durham’s advocacy initiatives to support the historical preservation of Durham spaces. We are currently work on advocacy for spaces like the Home Security Life Building, the Durham Athletic Park, and The Chicken Hut. Our advocacy varies from recognizing these spaces by applying for local/national landmark status, highlighting their importance with our plaque program, and awareness-raising to the protection of these sites within the community.
