- Play NC will also donate $30 to Miracle League of the Triangle for every team that registers.
- Basically, each person is paying $30 to donate $30 to Miracle League and also receives entry into a Free Roll Cornhole Tournament with 32 Players to win $960 in prizes. Win-win!
- Games will be played on Sunday, July 21 at Miracle League of the Triangle’s Durham location.
- Games will be played between 11:00am and 3:00pm, with the Championship game projected to start around 2:45pm.
- All players will get to play at least 4 games – 3 in the Round Robin phase, then at least 1 additional playoff game.
- Your 2-Person BYOP Team will randomly draw a team assignment at Check-In.
- Before you draw, your team will choose which of your pairing is considered Player 1 and Player 2.
- There is no “rank” assumed in team assignments, so these can just be randomly selected numbers between the two players.
- Each team will be paired with another team, swapping partners based on the drawing.
- eg. Team 1 and Team 2 will be assigned to play as “Team 1A / Team 2B” and “Team 1B / Team 2A” as the two teams, with pairings set for the entire tournament.
- You will not play on the same team as your “BYOP.”
- Instead, your 2-Person BYOP Team will be split-up and paired with one of the two random people you are paired with through the drawing.
- Since the format and prizes are based on how well your entire 4-person team performs, your chosen partner is crucial in an “I trust that one of us will be able to win it”-kind of way.
- You are all still on the same “team,” with equal earnings if either of your team’s pairs wins a prize.
- The first round requires both teams to be good.
- The second round requires one of the two teams to be great.
- Cheer for your other partner’s team, just as much as you do yours!
- You are all still on the same “team,” with equal earnings if either of your team’s pairs wins a prize.
We will be playing cornhole on standard boards, using standard ACL rules.
- First team to 21, wins the game.
- 4-Division / 4-Team Round Robin Standings are based on a total point system.
- Point Scored = +1 Point
- Win = +10 Points
- Tie-breakers are determined by head-to-head matchups, then total points, so every point is valuable.
- Win Bonus added to ensure a team with 2 wins (min 62 points) always beats a team with 0 wins (max 60 points), regardless of other outcomes.
- After the 4-Team Round Robin phase, the Top 8 Teams enter a double-elimination tournament to determine the Championship winner.
- Winners of A, B, C, and D brackets earn automatic entry and Top 4 Seeding.
- Next two highest scores from A /B and C / D, respectively, also gain entry to the Championship Round.
- Win/Loss Tie-Breakers are determined by head-to-head score, total points, points scored against the highest seeded team that isn’t tied, and then a sudden death shootout, if needed.
- After the Round Robin phase, the bottom 8 Teams enter a single-elimination tournament to determine the Consolation winner.
- All teams that did not qualify for the Championship bracket get a chance to win some money by coming in 1st Place during the Consolation bracket tournament.
- Players will Check-In at 10:00am.
- Tournament pairings will drawn as players arrive and will be finalized at 10:45am.
- Games will start at 11:00am.
Each division will alternate across three sets of boards, with a structured assignment list and schedule set prior to the tournament that will be randomized at Check-In.
- eg. We will know that Team 1 / Team 2 will be paired together, with 1A/2B and 1B/2B playing as the two teams. But, we won’t know who 1A/1B/2A/2B are until teams Check-In.
Players should expect to play their first three games between 11:00am and 1:00pm, with a playoff game starting between 1:00pm and 1:30pm.
Games will be played as quickly as possible, with an estimated Championship game start time (if we have 16 teams) around 2:30pm.
Final schedule will be released before the tournament, or as early as possible based on total entries.
