Bike Durham
Bike Durham impacts our community through events, advocacy, and education, Bike Durham empowers all people to walk, bike, and ride transit more often.
We work and host events so that everyone can have access to safe, affordable, and sustainable transportation regardless of who they are or where they live. We also assist DPS in teaching safe riding and cycling skills so that even children can have options for safe affordable and sustainable transportation.
In addition to the On the Bench initiative. Participants in our Adult & Teen Bike Riding series can now earn a free refurbished bicycle. After completing the full course, graduates who need a bike will receive a professionally refurbished bike, along with a helmet, bike lights, and lock. The program removes a common barrier to riding—access to a reliable bike—so participants can continue building confidence and independence on two wheels. By pairing skills training with equipment, we help ensure that new riders have what they need to keep biking for transportation, recreation, and everyday trips.
